The students spend quite some time creating visual journal pages of their reflections and learning throughout the day.  It is a time to sketch and write down their thoughts and wonders.  Here are a few samples from our week...

Please ensure that you have logged onto Raz - Kids.  This is our online guided reading program with interactive ebooks, down loadable books, and reading quizzes. Please review the notice and sign the form and return it to school as soon as possible. Also, keep the student card as it has the username and password on it. The notice provides you with a step by step guide to begin. Students are urged to do home reading 4-5 days a week.


Looking ahead… The students will have the opportunity to build a magnetic toy or game using design thinking approach.

Important Dates:
October 10 - Thanksgiving - NO SCHOOL

Dear Parents, We had an amazing morning at the Aboriginal Learning Centre.  The students toured the school, learned about artifacts and engaged in indigenous games. Here are some photos of our day... A special thank you to Mr. And Mrs. Hobbes for volunteering! Dear Parents, We had a great start to our day with a presentation by HOJE.  The talented singers sang and had the audience captivated with songs from the top 40 music charts. Feel free to ask your child about the performance tonight. The students are busy preparing and practising for our grade two learning celebration on June 2 at 8:30 a.m.  Please book some time off if you can to join the grade two’s on that day. Important Information: Practise home reading daily. Please return all field trip forms as soon as possible if you haven’t already done so.   Our class now has enough volunteers for the Aboriginal Center on May 29 but is in need for 2 parents to come with us to the Ed Center. Dear Parents, Your child learned how to do his or her home journal through an email today. They were so excited about it!  Please keep in mind that they are just beginning to use a keyboard and are learning.  There are some great websites for you to use at home for them to practise their keyboarding skills.  Dance Mat Typing is one that you can try at home. You are welcome to send an email back to your child about their learning at school. www.dancemattypingguide.com/dance-mat-typing-level-1/stage-1/ We are going to begin to learn about Boats and Buoyancy on Monday. Practise home reading daily. Our two field trips have been approved.  We will be going to the Aboriginal Centre on May 29 and the Education Centre on June 8.  In order for the trips to happen, we will need volunteers.
