The students have begun an Inquiry on Magnets.  Please ask your child about his or her wonders about magnets.
 
Our focus in Numeracy today was looking at Shapes.  The students were engaged in making connections between 3 objects and the real world.  Feel free to visit YouTube to hear the song they learned today.


Looking ahead… There will be a “Meet the Teacher” night on Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m..  
Parent Night: Our Curriculum Night – on Thursday, September 15th is from 6:00 – 8:00 pm; this will be a great first opportunity for you to learn about some key things your child’s teacher wants you to know and will provide an opportunity for you to ask questions. There will two repeating presentations from each teacher and then time for you to ask questions after wards. This time will facilitate the connections between home and school and better prepare us for the first conferences in early October. Please drop in to the appropriate sessions with your child’s teacher.

Friday is an early dismissal day.  Students will go home at 11:35 p.m.

Today the students spent some time reflecting about Remembrance Day.  Their feelings shone through their work.  They truly expressed how thankful they are for the soldiers and veterans that have brought “peace” to our Canada. In math, we looked at the mental math strategies called “doubles” and “doubles plus 1”. Feel free to ask your child about it this evening. Just a friendly reminder that the students are going to create a magnetic toy or game on Friday.  Please have a conversation with your child about his or her idea.  Also, help them collect recycled materials from home to build it.   Looking ahead… Create a magnetic toy or game on Friday. Dear Parents, Today your child will be bringing home his or her home journal.  Please read it with your child and write them a comment back.  They were excited to share their learning with you. In math we worked through a problem about what makes 10.  This is what the students came with... Our field trip to the Glenbow museum is on Wednesday January 11.  Our class is in need of at least one parent if possible.  Is there anyone who may be able to volunteer?  Please email me if you are able to do so.
